Krispy Kreme is celebrating 30 years of Pokémon with a limited-edition collection of six specialty doughnuts. The new offerings allow fans to "catch 'em all" for a limited time, featuring designs inspired by some of the franchise's most iconic characters.
Among the available characters are Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, and Jigglypuff, each with unique flavors and designs. The collection also includes a special-edition pack of 10 Original Glazed Gold Pokémon Dots. According to Alison Holder, chief brand and product officer at Krispy Kreme, the collaboration aims to bring the world of Pokémon to life through doughnuts, complete with themed cups and packaging.
The Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Jigglypuff doughnuts are based on Original Glazed shells with added specialty flavors. Bulbasaur is topped with vanilla-flavored icing and frosting, while Squirtle features cotton candy-flavored buttercream and is dipped in sanding sugar. Jigglypuff is enhanced with strawberry-flavored buttercream and cookie crumbles.
Charmander is presented with an unglazed shell filled with chocolate and toasted marshmallow, dipped in orange caramel icing with red and gold sugar accents. The Pikachu doughnut has a lemon-flavored Kreme filling and is dipped in vanilla icing with drizzle and nonpareils.
A Poké Ball Doughnut, an Original Glazed with vanilla icing and red sprinkles piped to resemble the capture devices, is also available. Krispy Kreme also introduced a special Pokémon cup containing 10 Original Glazed Gold Dots, with five different Pokémon designs to choose from.
Customers who visit a Krispy Kreme location dressed in Pokémon attire on August 22 will receive a free Original Glazed doughnut. Availability is limited to participating stores, and purchases are restricted to one per guest. Pokémon, which began as a role-playing video game in Japan in 1996, has evolved into a global franchise encompassing shows, toys, and trading cards.
