Kim Kardashian's fans have voiced dismay over a recent TikTok video featuring her 13-year-old daughter, North West, with some users expressing concern over what they perceived as a heavily filtered appearance.
North, whose father is Kanye West, shared a clip on the social media platform, which she operates with her mother. In the video, she is seen wearing a blue wig, goth-inspired makeup, and a leather outfit, dancing to Rihanna's 2006 song "SOS." However, the focus for many viewers shifted to North's nose, drawing a range of reactions in the comments section.
Some commentators expressed distress over the perceived alteration of North's features, with one user writing, "Her contouring her beautiful nose is making me really upset. What is happening here??" Another commenter suggested external influence, stating, "Poor kid that she got influenced by her relatives to believe her face is not pretty enough as it is. Bad parenting."
Conversely, many fans defended North, with one user writing, "be nice guys she has the comments on." Others shared relatable experiences, with one commenter noting, "I also had a Hot topic phase." Another defended North's right to self-expression, arguing, "y’all obviously didn’t have an alt phase when u were 13 and it shows. imagine having an alt phase as a 13 year old with UNLIMITED BUDGET AND CONNECTIONS. of course she wants to express herself let her be. nothing about this is inappropriate."
This is not the first time North West has attracted online attention for her social media activity. In August 2025, she revealed she had obtained a dermal piercing on her right hand, a procedure that carries risks such as scarring and infection. Kardashian faced criticism for allowing her daughter to undergo the piercing at a young age.
North responded to the backlash via TikTok, lip-syncing to a soundbite that questioned the emotional distress over the piercing. She later appeared to unveil further piercings in January and, in May, shared a music video for her song "#N0rth4evr." The video, styled with a "found footage" aesthetic, featured stick-on piercings near her eye and nose. Her subsequent musical release was a collaboration with Lil Wayne's son, Lil Novi.
