KFC Australia has reinstated its Fried Cookie Dough as a limited-time menu item, the company announced, responding to persistent customer demand. The sweet treat returns to stores from September 9 after selling out during its initial run in August 2024.
The Fried Cookie Dough features a crisp golden exterior and a chocolate-chip cookie dough centre designed to be served hot and gooey. It is being offered as a standalone dessert, as part of a meal box, and through delivery via the KFC app.
KFC Australia Marketing Director Sally Spriggs said the relaunch followed "persistent pleas from fans" and described the item as a fan-requested favourite. "Delighting our fans with truly unforgettable taste experiences is what we do best, and our Fried Cookie Dough delivers exactly that," she said, adding a serving suggestion: dip the fried dough into KFC's Double Chocolate Mousse to "elevate the dessert game."
The chain is selling the dessert in three-piece and six-piece options, priced at A$2.95 and A$5.95 respectively. The item is also included in the Complete Treat box, which combines a Zinger burger, two pieces of Hot & Crispy chicken, three pieces of Fried Cookie Dough, chips, potato and gravy, and a drink.
KFC first introduced the Fried Cookie Dough in August 2024, when it became a social media sensation and quickly sold out. Demand for a return intensified on platforms such as TikTok, where users repeatedly commented on an earlier promotional video asking the company to bring the dessert back. Comments captured by KFC's social channels included pleas such as "Please bring them back… they were my everything!!!" and "PLS BRING THEM BACK! I FEAR NOTHING ELSE WILL DO."
The relaunch is limited in duration, and KFC Australia did not provide an end date for the offering. The chain said the fried dessert will be available at participating restaurants nationwide and through delivery via its app, allowing customers to order it without visiting stores.
KFC has used rotating, limited-time menu items as part of its promotions in recent years, with desserts and novelty items frequently returning due to customer interest. In this instance, the company highlighted social-media feedback as a direct factor in its decision to reintroduce the product.
Shoppers looking to purchase the Fried Cookie Dough should check availability at local outlets and on the KFC app, as participating stores and delivery options may vary. KFC did not provide sales forecasts or projections ahead of the limited-time return.
