The Voice UK is set to return to screens with Kelly Rowland as a new coach for its 14th series. The show's return comes after multiple postponements, with the initial auditions filmed in 2024.
Rowland, a member of Destiny's Child, replaces LeAnn Rimes, who departed after one season. "I’m the coach who wants to get to know you, not just your voice. I’m not necessarily looking for the perfect voice. I’m looking for an artist that makes you feel something," Rowland stated regarding her coaching approach. She added that her aim is to make contestants feel "stronger, more confident and seen."
She joins fellow coaches Will.i.am, Danny Jones, Tom Fletcher, and Tom Jones. Emma Willis returns as host.
"We’re back. Kelly Rowland has joined us and she’s just incredible. She’s everything you’d want from a coach," Willis commented on Rowland's addition. "I was in awe of her! Then we’ve got the other brilliant coaches who work so well together."
Rowland has previous experience as a judge on The X Factor and as a coach on The Voice Australia. Her early career saw her achieve global success with Destiny's Child before embarking on a solo career.
The last season of The Voice UK aired in 2024, with McFly members Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones coaching the winning contestant, Ava Manning. Manning secured a record deal, a £50,000 prize, and a vacation.
The new series is scheduled to begin on Saturday, August 22, at 7 p.m. on ITV1, ITVX, STV, and STV Player.
