Kelly Osbourne has shared that she wore a wig to the Grammy Awards earlier this year to conceal her drastic weight loss, a consequence of the grief she experienced following the death of her father, Ozzy Osbourne.

Osbourne stated that she was unaware of how thin she had become until a dress fitting for the awards ceremony. "I looked like the f****** Crypt Keeper," she told The Mail on Sunday. "I said, 'This is scary. I didn't know I looked like this'. My spine – you could see every single bone."

The TV personality described being overwhelmed by grief after her father's death in July 2025. "I couldn't see what other people saw because I was in so much pain," she said. "I just saw a broken person."

To ensure that her appearance did not detract from the tribute to her father's legacy at the Grammys, Osbourne and her stylists attempted to find clothing that would minimize her thinness and used a wig to cover her face. "I wore a wig to cover my face, so you couldn't see how skinny my cheekbones really were," she explained.

Reflecting on the event, Osbourne expressed doubt about attending. "I wanted to be there to support my mum and to pay tribute to my father's legacy. But in all honesty, when I reflect on it, I don't think I should have gone. I wasn't very well."

The distress from losing her father also affected her appetite, causing nausea when she attempted to eat. "You're filled with so much pain that the feeling of hunger can't even pop up," she said.

During this period, Osbourne made efforts to shield her three-year-old son, Sidney, from her suffering. "Whenever he walked in the room, something would come over me and I'd snap into Miss Fun Mum. I didn't cry in front of him; I'd walk out of the room. I always made sure that he was not exposed to inappropriate sorrow."

Ozzy Osbourne died at his Buckinghamshire home at the age of 76 on July 22, 2025. He had been diagnosed with his health deteriorating for nearly ten years prior, a period Osbourne described as 'anticipatory grief'.

Osbourne is planning a three-part television series about bereavement, grief, and mental health, aiming to share her personal experiences. The broadcaster for the series has not yet been named.

"The person I was before my dad died is dead," Osbourne stated. "That person doesn't exist anymore."
