Katie Radford, the 22-year-old daughter of Britain’s largest family, told viewers she is in debt and struggling financially in the latest episode of Channel 5’s 22 Kids & Counting, which aired on Wednesday night.

In the episode, the eighth eldest of Sue and Noel Radford’s 22 children said she felt as though she was "failing" after moving out of her parents’ home less than a year earlier. Katie left the family house in Morecambe after learning she and her then-boyfriend of six years, Connor Carter, were expecting their first child.

Katie became a mother on Oct. 8 last year when she gave birth to Ronnie Hudson Carter, a birth she described on social media as the arrival of her "dream baby." At the time the episode was filmed, Ronnie was approaching eight months old and had recently learned to roll over.

While she told cameras that life with Ronnie was "going well," Katie acknowledged the financial strain of parenting and living independently. She described difficulty making ends meet after leaving the family home and said the changes had left her feeling uncertain about her ability to cope.

The episode also touched on Katie’s relationship status. The program noted she had split from Carter following the move and the birth, though Katie focused her remarks on the practical challenges of childcare, budgeting and adjusting to life outside her parents’ household.

The Radfords, who have been the focus of television programmes and media coverage for years, have documented major family milestones and transitions on 22 Kids & Counting. This season has followed several of the older children as they form households of their own and navigate parenthood.

Katie’s comments add to a pattern in the series of older Radford children facing the financial and emotional pressures that can accompany early parenthood and the shift from a large multigenerational household to independent living. The show did not provide further financial details, and representatives for the Radford family did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
