Katie Price has described herself as a "survivor" as she prepares for the release of her new documentary, "Katie Price: Nothing To Hide," which chronicles her past suicide attempts and struggles with substance abuse.
In an interview discussing the film, Price stated, "It's like I'm meant to be here." She reflected on the difficult process of revisiting traumatic experiences for the documentary, saying, "There were horrible moments I had to relive. But I survived. I mean, who f**king survives that? Me. I'm glad I did because now I'm back again."
She recounted instances of suicidal ideation, including an attempt to hang herself, which she now makes light of, though she emphasized the seriousness of the events at the time. Price also referenced "car crashes that should have killed me."
In 2022, Price disclosed that she had attempted to take her own life prior to a stay at the Priory mental health facility. She stated that her children were the only reason she did not go through with it, adding, "So, if my kids weren't here, I wouldn't be here today."
Price is a mother to Princess, 19, and Junior, 21, with ex-husband Peter Andre; Jett, 12, and Bunny, 11, with ex-husband Kieran Hayler; and Harvey, 24, whose father is Dwight Yorke. Yorke has no contact with their son.
The documentary is set to air on Wednesday. One of the incidents Price recalled was in September 2021, when she was arrested for drink driving after crashing her BMW. This led to her being banned from driving for the sixth time and receiving a suspended sentence. At the time, she told The Sun that the incident was a "terrible mistake" and an "example of me having been triggered and not knowing how to handle it, an example of me spiralling out of control because I needed help."
Price also spoke about the emotional pain caused by Kieran Hayler's affair with her former friend Jane Pountney, which she discovered in 2016 while pregnant with their second child, Bunny. The scandal led to dark thoughts and a desire to "end it all." She mentioned being prescribed Valium to cope with the distress and stated that if she hadn't been pregnant and had her children, she "would have 100 per cent tried to kill myself."
