Influencer Kate Cassidy is undergoing tattoo removal for a tribute inked in memory of her late boyfriend, One Direction star Liam Payne. Cassidy shared a video on Instagram on Tuesday showing the laser removal of the numbers '444' from her left hand.
Cassidy, 27, dated Payne for two years before his death in October 2024 at age 31. He died after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, with toxicology reports indicating alcohol and cocaine were in his system. The '444' tattoo, along with 'LP' on her wrist, was inked in the months following Payne's death. The numbers held significance for the couple as their "angel number."
Cassidy explained that she has "decided to get some tattoos removed that were done poorly" and intends to have them redone at a later date. She previously shared that she sometimes struggles to move on from her grief and has been rereading love letters from Payne. In one letter, Payne expressed his desire to be engaged and married within a year, signing off with "Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged and together forever 444."
In an emotional video shared earlier this month, Cassidy recounted reading old letters from Payne, expressing how they sometimes intensify her sadness but also offer comfort by allowing her to feel his presence. She also spoke about the difficulty of dating again, stating that she finds herself comparing potential partners to Payne, whom she described as "f###ing hot, funny, kind and generous."
