Karol G, Rosalía, Drexler, Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso Lead Latin Grammy Nominations
The four acts each received seven nods for the 27th annual awards ceremony, set to broadcast from Las Vegas.
The 27th edition of the Latin Grammy Awards features a competitive field of top artists, with Karol G, Rosalía, Jorge Drexler, and the hip hop duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso leading the pack with seven nominations each. The artists are recognized across major categories including album, song, and record of the year, showcasing a diverse range of musical styles from reggaeton and urban music to alternative, folklore-inspired sounds, and regional Mexican music.
Silvana Estrada and Mon Laferte follow closely with six nominations apiece, while Argentine rapper Milo J secured five, and best new artist nominee Arath Herce received four. Producer and composer Edgar Barrera leads all nominees with 10 nods. The Latin Grammy ceremony is scheduled to be broadcast live on November 12 from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Rosalía's multilingual album "LUX (Complete Works)" earned a nomination for album of the year. Her track "La Perla," featuring Yahritza y Su Esencia, is a contender for record and song of the year. Rosalía, a previous winner of best new artist in 2017 and a multiple Latin Grammy recipient, is also nominated in categories for pop song, alternative music album, Portuguese language song, and short form music video.
Jorge Drexler, a seasoned Latin Grammy winner with 16 awards, is nominated again for song of the year with "¿Como se ama?" from his album "Taracá." His other nominations include alternative song, singer-songwriter album, singer-songwriter song, and roots song.
Argentinian duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso are nominated for album of the year for "PAPOTA" and song of the year for "Hasta Jesús Tuvo Un Mal Día." Their album "FREE SPIRITS" is also nominated for alternative music album, and they are recognized for a long form music video for the same project. The duo previously won five awards at the Latin Grammys last year.
Karol G's album "Tropicoqueta," which explores Afro-Caribbean genres and regional Mexican music, garnered nominations for record and song of the year with her duet "Coleccionando heridas" featuring Marco Antonio Solis. Her song "Ese Hombre es Malo" is nominated for best regional Mexican song. The artist, who was the first woman to win the urban music album award, is also competing in urban music album, urban performance, and reggaeton performance categories.
Other album of the year nominees include Anitta for "EQUILIBRIVM," Carín León for "MUDA," Milo J for "La vida era más corta," Rawayana for "¿Dónde Es El After?," Silvana Estrada for "Vendrán suaves lluvias," and Mon Laferte for "FEMME FATALE."
The best new artist category features 11 contenders, including Delilah, FABIAN, Loulu Gilberto, Arath Herce, Macario Martinez, maye, Sofia Monroy, Kendall Peña, Dora Sanches, ARIA VEGA, and Zeca Veloso. This category now limits participation to artists with fewer than three albums or 25 singles released.
Nominees for song of the year also include "Dime" by Estrada, "Femme Fatale" by Laferte, "Humano" by Juanes and Vivir Quintana, "Mi gran amor" by Santana featuring Becky G, "Nilo" by Zanna, and "Solifican12" by Milo J.
Daddy Yankee will be honored as the Person of the Year, marking the first time a Latin urban artist has received this distinction.
