Kaia Gerber has revealed her past struggles with disordered eating and the pressures of maintaining a certain body image in Hollywood. In a recent interview with Vogue, Gerber stated that she has experienced disordered eating and described the current trend towards extreme thinness in the entertainment industry.
"We're clearly in one of those cycles right now where people are very, very, very thin," Gerber told Vogue. She also shared feelings of jealousy regarding her supermodel mother, Cindy Crawford's, physique, noting, "I’m so jealous of my mom’s body. I would have loved to be born with boobs and a butt."
Gerber detailed how constant public commentary on her body has been difficult, especially when she is not feeling confident in her own appearance. "People have always commented on my body, which is hard because I’m not always ready to comment on my own body, you know?" she said.
Despite these challenges, Gerber expressed gratitude for her mother's guidance. She acknowledged the advantages of her "nepo baby" status in her modeling career, stating in a previous interview with WSJ Magazine that she is aware of its benefits and would never speak negatively about it. She also values having parents who are in the same industry and can offer trusted career advice.
Gerber, who began modeling at age 10, has often been compared to her mother. While she considers it an honor to be compared to Crawford, whom she describes as "the most beautiful woman inside and out," she also noted that she doesn't believe she resembles her mother closely, even on her best days.
