Kaia Gerber, daughter of Cindy Crawford, and Homer Gere, son of Richard Gere, are set to star in the upcoming FX series "The Shards." The series, based on Bret Easton Ellis's novel of the same name, is described as a "raunchy thriller."

The show is set in the 1980s and centers on a serial killer who targets a group of affluent high school students in Los Angeles. Gerber will play Susan Reynolds, and Gere will portray Robert Mallory, a new student whose arrival coincides with the killer's activity.

The novel, by the author of "American Psycho," is a semi-autobiographical account of Ellis's adolescence, with many characters inspired by real individuals. The series logline states that Mallory's appearance "coincides with the growing terror of The Trawler, a serial killer targeting teenagers across the city."

Gerber and Gere, both children of high-profile Hollywood stars who were famously married in the 1990s, appear together in the first official poster for the series, shown underwater in their underwear alongside co-stars.

The sexually-charged thriller is set to premiere on FX and Hulu on August 5

Gere has previously appeared in the series "Euphoria," where he filmed a sex scene with Sydney Sweeney. Gerber is known for her modeling career and has had acting roles in "Palm Royale" and "Mother Mary."

"The Shards" was initially in development at HBO with director Luca Guadagnino but was later revived by Ryan Murphy for FX. The series is scheduled to premiere on FX and Hulu on August 5.

Cindy and Richard were one of Hollywood's hottest couples back in the early '90s

Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere were married from 1991 to 1995. Crawford is now married to Rande Gerber, with whom she has Kaia. Gere is married to Alejandra Silva.
