Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere, children of supermodel Cindy Crawford and actor Richard Gere, have graced the cover of Vogue and addressed their parents' past marriage. Crawford and Gere were married from 1991 to 1995, a period when both were at the height of their respective careers.

Gerber and Gere are now co-starring in Ryan Murphy's FX series "The Shards," co-created with Bret Easton Ellis. The two met while working on the show and discussed their parents' history early in their acquaintance.

Homer Gere recounted that after meeting at a Los Angeles bar, he asked Gerber if they should acknowledge their parents' past marriage. She reportedly responded with a simple, "Yeah. Cool," and the subject was not extensively revisited.

"Maybe it seems too on the nose," Gere admitted regarding the perceived "legacy stunt casting" of their pairing in "The Shards."

Crawford, now married to Rande Gerber, and Gere, who is on his third marriage to Alejandra Silva, have largely kept their past relationship private. Crawford has described their marriage as a "great chapter" but noted the age gap as a factor in their eventual separation. She was 22 when they married, and Gere was 37.

In the Vogue shoot, both Gerber and Gere drew parallels to their parents' iconic 1992 Vogue cover. Photographer Steven Meisel captured images of Gerber with dark hair and a bright smile, reminiscent of her mother's look. Gere, dressed in a blazer and tie, evoked a 1990s aesthetic similar to his father's style.

"The Shards," which is based on Bret Easton Ellis's 2023 novel of the same name, premiered on FX and Hulu on August 5. The series is set in a drug-infused prep school and features a cast including Igby Rigney and Evan Rachel Wood.
