Kaia Gerber, daughter of Cindy Crawford, and Homer Gere, son of Richard Gere, attended the premiere party for their new FX series, "The Shards," on Monday night. The series is based on the novel of the same name by Bret Easton Ellis.
Gerber, 24, and Gere, 26, are described as having "nepo-babies" due to their famous parents, who were married from 1991 to 1995. Both actors appeared to embrace the label at the event, posing for photographers and mingling with co-stars.
"The Shards" is described as a violent and sexually charged story about a serial killer stalking privileged high school students in 1980s Los Angeles. The novel is a semi-autobiographical account of Ellis's adolescence, with many characters based on real people.
In the series, Gere plays Robert Mallory, a mysterious new student whose arrival coincides with the terror of "The Trawler," a serial killer targeting teenagers. Gerber portrays Susan Reynolds, a member of an elite social circle entangled in a life of wealth and excess. Other cast members include Igby Rigney as Bret, Hayes Warner as Debbie Schaffer, and Graham Campbell as Thom Wright. The adult characters are played by Wes Bentley, Evan Rachel Wood, and Jordan Roth.
The series was initially developed by Luca Guadagnino for HBO before being revived by Ryan Murphy and FX. The premiere event saw the young actors celebrating with castmates, including Hayes Warner, Igby Rigney, and Graham Campbell. Warner was seen taking pictures with a disposable camera.
Gerber, who won Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2018, is a prominent figure in the modeling world. Gere's father, Richard Gere, and mother, Carey Lowell, were a notable Hollywood couple in the 1990s.
