Kai Schreiber, the 17-year-old transgender daughter of actress Naomi Watts and actor Liev Schreiber, made a notable appearance on the runway at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week on Monday.
Schreiber walked for Dutch couture designer Iris van Herpen, showcasing a shimmering, semi-sheer embellished gown with intricate crystal detailing and a sculptural headpiece. Schreiber later shared images from the event on Instagram, expressing gratitude for opening the show.
The appearance followed a recent runway debut for Valentino, a moment Schreiber described as confirming her aspiration to become a supermodel. "That job made me realize, 'OK, this is what I want to do.' I want to be a supermodel. Period," Schreiber told Interview Magazine.
Schreiber has spoken about navigating gender identity from a young age, expressing a desire to be a "beautiful, glamorous, influential woman." She also acknowledged the supportive community of transgender individuals in the fashion industry, citing models like Hunter Schafer and Hari Nef as inspirations.
Her parents, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, have publicly supported her journey. Liev Schreiber recalled Kai's request to change pronouns as a significant moment, noting, "Kai was always who Kai is." Watts has also shared her pride in her daughter's modeling career, commenting on social media that Schreiber was "continuing to kill it."
Coincidentally, family friend Sunday Rose, the daughter of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, also walked in Christian Dior's Haute Couture show during the same week. Rose, who turned 18, modeled an elegant creation from Dior's collection.
