Kai Schreiber, daughter of actors Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, was recognized as Breakthrough Model of the Year at The Daily Front Row's Fashion Media Awards on Friday. During her acceptance speech, the 17-year-old model expressed gratitude for her entry into the fashion industry and highlighted the significance of her win as the "first trans girl" to receive the award.

"I’m also the first trans girl to win this award," Schreiber told the audience, according to footage shared by the Daily Mail. She described the recognition as "surreal" and acknowledged the contributions of other women in the industry who "paved the way."

Schreiber, who wore a Valentino outfit to the event, thanked her parents for their "unconditional support" in realizing her dreams. She also extended her appreciation to the fashion house for their belief in her and for introducing her to the fashion community. Watts was present at the event, posing with Schreiber on the red carpet, and Schreiber's father, Liev Schreiber, was seen kissing her on the cheek.

In a previous interview with Interview Magazine, Schreiber stated her ambition to become a supermodel, mentioning her long-standing practice of runway walks at home. She also spoke about the importance of a strong community within the fashion world for transgender individuals.

Liev Schreiber previously shared with Variety that his daughter's journey in identifying as transgender felt natural, as Kai had always expressed feminine traits. He characterized his daughter as "such a fighter" and emphasized the importance of her openly sharing her identity. Watts has publicly expressed pride in Schreiber's modeling achievements, including her participation in a Valentino campaign.
