Julia Morris has broken her silence following Channel 10's decision to "rest" its reality series "I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!" in 2027. The Australian comedian, who co-hosted the program alongside Robert Irwin, stated she was "devastated" by the network's move. Morris, 58, shared her thoughts with Nova 96.9's Ricki-Lee & Tim, noting that the term "rested" offered her hope that the show was not permanently canceled.
Channel 10 confirmed last month that the series would take a hiatus rather than an outright cancellation, leaving the possibility of its return open. Morris described her experience traveling to South Africa annually for over a decade to film the show as a significant thrill. She also conveyed her message to Channel 10 after the decision was announced. "I also said to them, 'You have my blessing, whatever form it comes back in, and whoever is at the helm… you're not going to hurt my feelings,'" she told the radio hosts.
Morris's remarks follow those of her co-host, Robert Irwin. Irwin, 22, who took over hosting duties from Dr. Chris Brown in 2024, expressed his gratitude for his time on the series. "I want to express what an absolute privilege it has been to work on this show for the past three seasons," Irwin stated. "I grew up watching this show as so many Aussies do... to be part of the fantastic team that make this series a reality felt like a dream come true." He also thanked Morris, calling their collaboration a "truly life-changing experience."
"I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!" opened its 2026 season with 925,000 viewers, but viewership declined to 571,000 by the season finale. The Daily Mail initially reported on May 14 that the show would not return to screens in 2027. Irwin is slated to host the upcoming TV Week Logie Awards and is reportedly a target for Seven Network, with industry insiders suggesting his appeal spans multiple demographics and commercial value. He has also been developing a global career, including a recent win on "Dancing with the Stars" in the U.S. and an upcoming spin-off.
