Jules Robinson, known for her role on Married At First Sight Australia, has addressed online criticism regarding her decision to employ a gender expert in an effort to have a baby girl.
Robinson, who has two sons, Ollie and Carter, with her husband Cameron Merchant, stated that she is "just saying the quiet part out loud" about a desire many women share. She explained that while she would love another son unconditionally, she is exploring available therapies to increase the chances of conceiving a girl.
"If I hold that child and it's a little boy. Oh my god, I'm going to love him more than anything; of course, I will," Robinson said. "I'm just saying that if there's any power that Cam and I have, naturally, to sway the baby to be a girl, then we're going to try that."
She revealed that the process with the gender expert has been ongoing for six months and involves monthly consultations and blood tests to monitor hormone levels. The practitioner's approach is described as science-based, studying biochemistry and hormones to create preconception plans. The method reportedly involves timing conception before ovulation, based on the premise that female sperm survive longer than male sperm.
Robinson acknowledged the backlash but maintained that her desire is a natural maternal wish and that women often discuss such topics privately. She also recently responded to accusations of not spending enough time with her children, a criticism she received via direct message on Instagram. Robinson shared the message and later posted a video clip reacting to critics, asserting her belief in making one's own choices.
Robinson and Merchant met on season six of Married At First Sight in 2019 and married later that year. They welcomed their first son in 2020 and their second in 2024.
