Josh O’Connor has spoken out about the persistent rumors linking him to the iconic role of James Bond, describing the speculation as "extraordinary." Meanwhile, Pierce Brosnan, who previously portrayed 007, has voiced his support for another contender, Callum Turner.

O’Connor, 36, addressed the "pinch-me moment" of being considered for the role in a recent interview with the BBC. "To be considered in that same sort of bracket is extraordinary," he stated. However, he declined to elaborate further, expressing that he was "afraid there was nothing to say beyond that."

Brosnan, 73, who starred as James Bond in four films from 1995 to 2002, shared his thoughts on the potential successors in an interview with Vanity Fair. While he expressed admiration for all the actors reportedly in contention, he specifically singled out Callum Turner, with whom he previously worked on "The Only Living Boy in New York." Brosnan described Turner, 36, as "so strong."

"Whoever plays the role, I wish him the very best of life and strength and courage," Brosnan added. "You know, it’s hard to tell who it [will] be, but I eagerly await to hear the news and the celebration of the next James Bond."

Recent reports suggested that the search for the next Bond had narrowed to finalists Turner and Jack Lowden. Both actors were reportedly expected to screen-test last month, with O’Connor also among those invited to audition. The identity of a fourth contender has not been revealed.

Other actors previously linked to the role, such as Jacob Elordi and Jack O’Connell, are reportedly no longer in the running.

Lowden, 36, recently addressed the rumors himself, telling British GQ that it was "very flattering" to be mentioned for any role and that he was not going to "add to the noise."
