Cooking influencer Joel Yukich, known for his popular Facebook page "Blokes Can Cook Too," has died suddenly at the age of 35. His passing was attributed to a medical event, according to a loved one.
Yukich, a father of four from New Zealand, gained a significant following by documenting his experiences with fishing, hunting, and cooking. His Facebook page, which he launched with the help of a friend, became a platform for him to connect with others who shared his passion for wild food and outdoor activities.
One of Yukich's loved ones shared the news on his Facebook page, describing him as "the loudest and brightest light in every room he went into." The post noted that the page provided him an outlet to share his love of wild kai and forge friendships.
His wife, Alanna Hussey, also shared her grief on Facebook, stating that her "world had changed forever." She described Yukich as an amazing dad, an incredible partner, and someone who would do anything for his loved ones. She added that his passion for hunting and cooking was evident through his online presence, where he enjoyed sharing adventures, recipes, and bringing people together over food.
Hussey expressed that nothing could have prepared them for his death and that the silence he left behind was unbearable. She requested thoughts for his sons, family, and all who loved him during this difficult time, emphasizing their need to navigate their grief privately. She concluded with a message of love to Yukich, promising to ensure their sons always know how deeply they were loved by their father.
