Jesy Nelson has shared a glimpse of a new man during a recent dinner date, marking a potential new chapter following her separation from Zion Foster, the father of her twin daughters.

Nelson, 35, reportedly split from Foster, 27, earlier this year. The separation occurred shortly after their daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, were diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1, a rare genetic condition. Nelson posted a picture on social media on Sunday from what appeared to be a rooftop dinner, showing a tattooed male arm and two drinks on a table.

This is not the first time Nelson has hinted at a new relationship; she also teased a new man in April, though it remains unclear if the recent date was with the same individual.

Health Battle and Relationship Strain

The diagnosis of SMA Type 1 for their twin daughters, Story and Ocean, was documented in the Amazon Prime series "Jesy Nelson: Life Changing." The series depicted Foster struggling with the diagnosis, expressing feelings of being overwhelmed and out of his depth emotionally, physically, and mentally. Nelson acknowledged his difficulties, noting that it was a lot for a 26-year-old to process.

The singer and Foster announced their split later that month. Nelson described the situation as difficult, stating, "It's just me and mum now." She also voiced the shared uncertainty about how they would manage, saying, "I think we're both thinking, 'how the f*** are we going to do this?' And we will because we have to. We don't have a choice. It's really f****** hard."

Foster later addressed backlash regarding his comments, clarifying on Instagram that his "out of my depth" statement referred to the overwhelming reality of facing a complex medical diagnosis he knew nothing about, rather than abandoning his responsibilities. He emphasized his love for his daughters and commitment to them, stating, "Please don't mistake vulnerability for abandonment."

Foster also commented on Nelson's decision to end their relationship, as stated in the series where she said, "I decided we would be better off apart." He respected her decision but affirmed his continued commitment to his daughters. He described the journey as heartbreaking for all involved, noting that everyone navigates such news differently.

Nelson characterized their breakup as inevitable due to the traumatic experience they shared. She explained that while they could either function as a team or be torn apart, she felt the situation had ultimately divided them. She stated there were no bad feelings between her and Foster, but her primary focus was her daughters, aiming to provide them with the best possible energy and positivity. She indicated that their different ways of coping with the situation led to clashes.

Understanding SMA

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a disease that affects motor neuron cells in the spinal cord, leading to progressive muscle weakness. The severity varies by type. Type 1 SMA, the most severe form, is evident at birth and typically results in death by age five due to muscle weakness preventing sufferers from sitting. Type 2 is intermediate, where individuals are unable to stand. Type 3 is milder, causing difficulty in standing up from a seated position. Type 4 symptoms appear in adulthood, typically in the 20s or 30s.
