Jessie J is taking a break from social media to focus on her recovery and undergo a second cancer reconstruction surgery. The singer, 38, announced the hiatus on Monday via Instagram, citing a need to "recharge, heal, to rest, to process, to love on myself and my boy." This decision comes after an "extremely busy" two years that saw her diagnosed with and beat breast cancer, release her first album in eight years, tour globally, go through a breakup, and manage her own social media presence.

In her post, Jessie J assured fans that she is "ok" and "very far from my worst." She explained that the past 24 months have been "magical, successful, life changing and extremely busy," but have taken a toll on aspects of her well-being that she has not had time to address.

"Now’s the time. Work has slowed down. So healing speeds up please," she wrote. "So I’m tapping out of this [world] for a while and into my real one. To give my mind, body and heart a well needed hug."

She detailed that alongside the surgery, her break will allow her to "water the next chapter of my life and most importantly be present and really live." Jessie J acknowledged that she cannot dedicate the necessary energy to her personal healing while remaining active on social media.

She revealed that she had beaten cancer and was cancer-free in May, a year after her initial diagnosis. She shared the news via a tearful social media post, stating, "I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year." Jessie J publicly shared her diagnosis in June of the previous year, undergoing surgery later that month. Her partner at the time, Danish-Israeli basketball player Chanan Safir Colman, supported her through her breast cancer journey. In August of that year, she had to reschedule and cancel tour dates due to further necessary cancer treatment.

Jessie J stated at the time that she chose to disclose her cancer diagnosis to help her process it and to offer solidarity to others facing similar challenges, adding that the diagnosis had provided her with "incredible perspective."

Regarding her relationship, Jessie J split from Colman, her partner of five years, three years after they welcomed their son, Sky. "Might pop on every now and again for work commitments (which sometimes will be my team) but other than that. See you when feels right. Love you all," she concluded her announcement.

In a separate post, she shared a photo holding her son Sky's hand, with the caption: "No place I would rather be. Bye social media, be back when I want to be."
