Jessie Cave, known for her role as Lavender Brown in the "Harry Potter" film series, has spoken candidly about her decision to join the subscription platform OnlyFans, describing it as "embarrassing" yet a vital financial necessity for her family.
Cave, who has four children with her partner, comedian Alfie Brown, admitted on the British television show "This Morning" that she struggled financially despite her past role in the popular franchise. She explained that the acting roles she secured after "Harry Potter" did not provide sufficient income to support her family, particularly with the high costs associated with childcare.
"People just assume I’m rich and I have loads of money, but no, I don’t," Cave stated. She added that while she would have preferred a conventional job, the demands of raising children made alternative employment challenging.
Cave, 39, revealed that she had been managing financially for 18 years but reached a point where she was uncertain how to proceed. She launched an OnlyFans page in March 2025, initially focusing on hair-related content, which she described as a niche "fetish."
Earlier this month, Cave disclosed that she earned approximately £15,000, or just over $20,000, in a single day on the platform. She told The UK Times that this amount exceeded her earnings from acting in an entire year, and that her subscription fee of $6 per month has "genuinely saved [her family’s] lives."
Cave initially expected to make around £5,000 and use the platform to buy herself time to figure out her next steps. Despite her initial hesitations, she has since found a sense of appreciation for the "fascinating world" of OnlyFans, noting the opportunity to connect with a diverse global audience.
The "Black Mirror" actress also shared that her experience on OnlyFans has contributed to an increase in her confidence as a woman, something she had previously struggled with due to a self-described "awkward" and "weird" disposition.
Cave indicated that the income generated from the platform has also supported her artistic endeavors, including her one-woman shows.
