Jessica Simpson celebrated her 46th birthday by sharing a selfie of herself tanning in a bikini, embracing her self-proclaimed identity as a "sun lover."
The singer posted the image on social media, captioning it "💫46💫 July 10/26." She was pictured wearing a black-and-white polka-dot bikini, oval dark sunglasses, and layered turquoise jewelry. Simpson also shared that her children have never seen her perform live, as she prioritized motherhood and building her fashion collection over her music career.
"I really wanted to be a mom. I wanted to focus on the Jessica Simpson Collection," Simpson said during an appearance on "The Jennifer Hudson Show." She added that her children are now supportive of her return to music, recognizing her happiness and peace derived from pursuing her dreams.
Simpson has recently returned to the music scene, traveling to Nashville to write and record new material. She stated that her upcoming music will be more personal, reflecting her authentic experiences. The release of her 2020 memoir, "Open Book," is credited with helping her reconnect with her younger self and feel more understood.
Reflecting on her lifelong affinity for the sun, Simpson described herself as a "born-and-bred Texan sun lover." She recalled spending summers by the pool and admitted to not always using sunscreen when growing up, a practice that also played a role in preparing for her role as Daisy Duke in the 2005 film "The Dukes of Hazzard."
While she still enjoys a tan, Simpson now approaches sun exposure differently, acknowledging that aging and its effects, such as wrinkles, are a natural part of life.
