Jerry O'Connell revealed that Sarah Michelle Gellar ended a brief romantic encounter after just one date. The actor shared the story on Sunday's episode of Kelly Ripa's podcast, "Let's Talk Off Camera."

"Sarah Michelle dumped my ass," O'Connell said, recalling the incident from their younger years. He humorously speculated that Gellar's decision was based on his behavior, suggesting she observed him and thought, "I got to get away from this drunk." O'Connell, who is a recovering alcoholic, characterized the date as a singular event, noting, "She was like one and done. Literally like one date. She was like ‘Well, that was fun.’"

According to O'Connell, Gellar needed a date for the Emmy Awards, which led to their single outing. He emphasized that they never dated again following the event.

O'Connell also commented on Gellar's current life, mentioning that he often sees her and her husband, whom he playfully described as a "black belt in jiu jitsu." He clarified that he harbors no ill will toward the "Cruel Intentions" star, stating, "I don’t want any beef with these people" and acknowledged her as having a "beautiful family."

Both Gellar and O'Connell have since found lasting partnerships. Gellar met Freddie Prinze Jr. on the set of "I Know What You Did Last Summer" in 1997. They began dating three years later, married in 2002, and have two children. O'Connell married Rebecca Romijn in 2007, and they also have two children.
