British television personality Jeremy Clarkson revealed on the latest episodes of his farm reality show that he has prostate cancer. The disease is described as “aggressive” but was detected early.
Clarkson, 66, shared the news on social media in advance of the release of the final episodes of the fifth season of “Clarkson’s Farm,” which documents the challenges of running his Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire. He characterized the episodes as a “difficult watch.”
During harvest planning discussions, Clarkson informed farm manager Kaleb Cooper and consultant Charlie Ireland in one of the episodes, stating, “I’ve got cancer.” He later spoke from a hospital bed, mentioning that a surgeon had removed part of his prostate and that he would learn his prognosis in November.
“If this is all successful, I’ll see you for season six, and if it isn’t, I won’t,” he said. “Take care, everyone.”
Clarkson, previously known as the host of the BBC car show “Top Gear,” underwent a heart procedure two years ago. At that time, he wrote in The Sun tabloid that his doctor had advised him to replace work with playing golf.
In 2023, Clarkson faced criticism from media regulators for a column that expressed fantasies about Meghan, the wife of Prince Harry, being paraded naked through the streets and pelted with feces. He issued an apology after the press watchdog determined the column to be sexist.
Since beginning his farming venture in 2019, Clarkson has become an advocate for agriculture, voicing opposition to the government's plan to introduce inheritance tax on farmland in November 2024.
