Jeremy Clarkson is set to return to television, fronting new series of the quiz show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" and its spin-off "Millionaire Hot Seat" after recovering from prostate cancer. Clarkson was diagnosed with an aggressive form of the disease in May 2025 and has since completed treatment and entered remission.
ITV, the network behind the quiz shows, has commissioned 35 new episodes, including 15 of the flagship series and 20 of the "Hot Seat" version. Filming is scheduled to take place later this year, with the channel beginning its search for contestants. Applications are being accepted until October.
Clarkson publicly disclosed his cancer diagnosis during the fifth season of his Amazon Prime reality series, "Clarkson's Farm." He explained that he shared the details of his health crisis because his treatment would require him to miss significant filming time. In the final episode of that season, he was shown in a hospital bed, telling viewers that his return for a potential sixth season depended on the success of his treatment.
He later revealed that a hospital visit at the end of the "Clarkson's Farm" season occurred after he resumed taking blood-thinning medication for heart issues without consulting a doctor, following his cancer treatment.
Following his recovery, Clarkson has confirmed he is filming the sixth season of "Clarkson's Farm." An interview with The Sunday Times revealed that a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test taken two months prior showed no indication of cancer, signifying his remission.
The health scare has led to significant lifestyle changes for Clarkson. He has stated that he now drives more slowly and has increased his walking and vegetarian meals, expressing a desire to live long enough to see his grandchildren grow up. Clarkson has two grandchildren, Arlo, three, and Xanthe, 18 months, through his daughter Emily and her husband Alex Andrew.
Prior to announcing his diagnosis, Clarkson underwent high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) treatment to target the tumor. This came after a period of experiencing heart problems, leading him to express a renewed appreciation for life.
"Jeremy Clarkson is hosting another exciting series of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and we are looking for contestants who can make it all the way to £1 Million!" an announcement on the TV channel's website read. "If you would like the chance to sit opposite Jeremy in the world-famous Hotseat then please APPLY HERE! YOU could be just 15 questions away from becoming a Millionaire!"
