Jeremy Allen White did not attend the 2025 Emmy Awards at the Peacock Theater because his best friend was getting married, Variety reported, leaving his onscreen costar and reported partner Molly Gordon to walk the red carpet alone. White, who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Carmy in FX’s The Bear, was not on hand for the ceremony.
The category was won by Seth Rogen for The Studio. White, 34, had won the lead-actor Emmy the previous two years for his portrayal of the driven, troubled chef and entered this year’s race against Adam Brody, Jason Segel and Martin Short, among others.
White has been a frequent presence at awards shows in recent seasons and has used his acceptance speeches to acknowledge the show’s cast and crew. At one past Emmys ceremony he said his heart felt "just beating outside of its chest," and on another occasion he thanked co-stars including Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, saying, "I want us to be in each other’s lives forever." He also has publicly credited The Bear with changing his life and providing a renewed sense that change is possible.
The actor’s absence at the 2025 ceremony follows an earlier high-profile no-show: White missed the Golden Globes in January after being on the opposite side of the country to film the Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere. He nevertheless continued to collect nominations and awards in absentia in prior seasons.
The Bear has been a significant presence at the Emmys. The series has won multiple statuettes across its run and received 13 nominations this year, including Outstanding Comedy Series. Several cast members were among the nominees this year, including Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, as well as Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Jamie Lee Curtis and Olivia Colman.
White’s personal life has been in the public eye as well. His divorce from actress Addison Timlin was filed in 2023; the former couple share two daughters. At past awards ceremonies White has referenced the people who have stayed close to him during challenging periods and thanked those who "believed in me when I had trouble believing in myself."
Representatives for White did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The Emmys ceremony and its winners list were widely reported by outlets covering the television awards season.
