Jennifer Lawrence has officially joined the popular photo and video-sharing platform Instagram, marking her presence with a characteristic sense of humor. In her inaugural post, shared on Thursday, the 36-year-old two-time Oscar winner humorously declared her intention to leave the platform immediately if any negative comments arise.
"So yeah, I'm giving it a shot and if anyone says anything negative I will quit immediately no questions asked," Lawrence stated in a deadpan delivery within a self-taken video. "If anyone thinks something mean, I'll know. I'll know. And I'll quit."
She further emphasized this stance in an Instagram Story, humorously linking potential negative comments to the well-being of her child. "Please be mindful that any mean or aggressive comments can negatively affect the baby. It's me. I'm the baby," she revealed, leading followers to believe she was referencing her children before delivering the punchline.
Lawrence, a mother to two young sons with her husband Cooke Maroney, has two-year-old Cy and a son born in March 2025 whose name she has kept private. Her Instagram account, under the handle @jenniferlawrence, has already garnered over 900,000 followers. Her bio humorously notes that her preferred username, @jenniferlawrence, was already taken.
This move marks a significant shift for Lawrence, who has largely avoided social media throughout her career. Her previous foray into social media was a Twitter account, @JLawrence_RepUs, which she joined in June 2020 to advocate for social justice and political reform through her role as a board member for Represent.Us. She made 19 posts on the platform, with her last one in November 2021 advocating for student debt cancellation.
In recent discussions, Lawrence has also been open about cosmetic procedures. She recently admitted to using small doses of Botox, describing it as "baby Botox" that allows for facial movement. She also expressed a desire for buccal fat removal but stated she could not undergo the procedure due to public scrutiny. Lawrence shared that her current skincare routine includes Tretinoin cream and, for redness, diaper rash ointment. Last October, she disclosed plans for a breast enhancement, citing the effects of her second pregnancy on her body, and noted she has a nude scene scheduled for an upcoming project. She also mentioned her dislike for lengthy beauty appointments like hair coloring and manicures, finding them tedious rather than relaxing.
Lawrence's candidness about her beauty routines and her playful entry into Instagram have already generated significant attention, showcasing her distinctive personality to a new online audience.
