Jennifer Lawrence has officially joined Instagram, but her presence on the platform may be short-lived. The Oscar-winning actress stated in her debut post on Wednesday that she will "quit immediately" if users leave any negative comments.

"So yeah, I’m giving it a shot," Lawrence said in the video post, filmed while she was lounging in bed. "And if anyone says anything negative, I will quit immediately. No questions asked. If anyone thinks something mean, I’ll know. I’ll know, and I’ll quit."

Lawrence, 36, also used her Instagram Stories to issue a warning, playfully stating that "any mean or aggressive comments" could "negatively affect the baby." She then clarified, "It’s me. I’m the baby."

Her account was launched under the username "@jlaw," as the more obvious handle "@jenniferlawrence" was already taken. Her profile picture appears to show her getting her hair colored.

Before making her public debut, Lawrence had revealed to InStyle magazine in 2018 that she was already a user of the platform, albeit as a "voyeur." She explained at the time that she preferred to observe rather than engage due to the potential for "backlash" and "opinions." "I really don’t want to welcome that unless it's absolutely necessary," she said. "I don’t want to put myself out there for no reason."

In 2014, Lawrence expressed similar sentiments about social media, telling BBC Radio 1 that the internet had "scorned" her and that she had no interest in joining Twitter. "I’m not very good on [the] phone or [with] technology," she said, according to E! News. "I cannot really keep up with emails, so the idea of Twitter is so unthinkable to me."

She had previously warned fans that any social media accounts claiming to be her were not authentic.

More recently, Lawrence discussed cosmetic procedures with Vogue, expressing her dislike for hair coloring and nail salon visits. She mentioned receiving "baby Botox" but admitted to being nervous about more invasive treatments such as fat transfers. "I would love to have a buccal fat removal," she confessed, "I can’t because everybody would know, but just know that I want that."
