Jennifer Finch, bassist and vocalist for the influential 1990s grunge band L7, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer, forcing her to withdraw from the group's upcoming farewell tour. Finch, 59, who joined L7 in 1986, is one of the band's longest-standing members.

L7 announced Finch's diagnosis in a joint statement on social media Monday. "Our beloved bandmate, sister and friend Jennifer Finch has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer," the band shared. "Following multiple surgeries and serious complications, Jennifer now requires extensive medical care, rehabilitation and professional in-home support."

The band stated that the farewell tour, "The Last Hurrah 2026," was planned with Finch's health in mind, but that she now requires a focus on her care and well-being. "We will honor her request while making her care and well-being our immediate priority," L7 continued. "We love her, and we want her to feel the full strength of the community that has loved and supported her for so many years."

To help cover medical expenses, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched. The initial goal was $350,000, and by Tuesday morning, it had already raised over $225,000. Funds will go towards home-care expenses to allow Finch to remain comfortably at home during treatment, as well as to reimburse significant out-of-pocket medical and legal fees already incurred. The crowdfunding page also noted the possibility that Finch "may have more good days behind her than ahead," and requested funds to help maintain her "legacy by creating an archive of her artistic and creative work."

Finch was born in Los Angeles and began her musical career in San Francisco with Courtney Love's early band Sugar Babydoll in the 1980s. She joined L7 in 1986, a year after its formation by Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner. The band, which also featured Demetra "Dee" Plakas, achieved significant success in the early to mid-1990s. Their notable songs include the 1992 hit "Pretend We're Dead."

Although Finch left L7 in 1996 and the band officially disbanded in 2001, they reunited in 2014. The "The Last Hurrah 2026" tour was announced in May, with dates scheduled to begin this October.
