Zac Affleck, a co-star on the reality series "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives," was reportedly blindsided by his wife, Jen Affleck's, divorce filing. Sources close to the situation told TMZ that Zac learned of the divorce petition through news reports.
Jen Affleck filed for divorce on Tuesday in Utah County District Court, while she is currently pregnant with their fourth child. She also submitted a proposed parenting plan with the filing.
The couple shares three children: Nora, 4, Lucas, 3, and Penelope, 1. Their split became public on Wednesday, which was also their eldest daughter Nora's birthday.
Both Jen and Zac posted separate tributes to their daughter on social media, celebrating the family milestone hours after the divorce news broke.
Jen, 27, shared a photo of Nora with a new bike, captioning it, "I can’t believe she’s already 5." Zac, 30, posted a video of Nora blowing out candles on a birthday donut, writing, "Happy birthday Rara! I hope all your dreams always come true."
Jen and Zac met in 2018 on the Mormon dating app Mutual and married the following year. Their marital struggles have been a recurring theme on "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" since its first season. They have previously attended therapy to address their issues, but tension has persisted.
Jen is slated to appear in the upcoming spinoff, "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County," which follows the family's relocation from Utah to Southern California. The new series is set to premiere on Nov. 12.
