Jared Leto was accused of approaching and texting underage girls nearly two decades before sexual assault allegations surfaced against the actor and musician. In September 2005, a source alleged to The Post that the then-33-year-old frontman for 30 Seconds to Mars was interacting with teenage models at New York City’s Maritime Hotel.
"He's been approaching all the girls and inviting them to his shows," the insider claimed at the time, noting that models from major agencies were staying at the hotel in the Meatpacking District. "He is constantly texting these other 16 and 17-year-old girls," the Post reported, with the source describing the behavior as "creepy."
At the time, Leto was also reportedly seen in Manhattan with Lindsay Lohan and Ashley Olsen, who were both 19 years old.
These earlier accusations come to light as four women have come forward in a recent BBC documentary, "Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret," accusing the Oscar winner of sexual misconduct. The women, identified by pseudonyms such as "Isabel" and "Alex" in the documentary, alleged they were between 16 and 19 years old when the alleged incidents occurred.
One woman, identified as "Isabel," accused Leto of sexual assault in a motel bathroom in 2002 when she was 17. Another, "Clara," claimed Leto "shrugged off" a conversation about California's age of consent laws when they allegedly had sex in 2006, when she was 17. "Alex" alleged that Leto threatened her with sexual assault in a hotel room in 2013 when she was 19. "Etta" accused Leto of grooming her at age 16 in 2014, detailing repeated sexually explicit phone calls and a suggestion of sexual activity.
In June 2025, nine women accused the now-54-year-old Leto of sexual impropriety in an exposé published by Air Mail. Leto expressly denied all those allegations at the time. He has not yet responded to the claims made in the BBC documentary.
