Four women have accused actor and musician Jared Leto of sexual misconduct, alleging that encounters occurred when they were teenagers, according to a new BBC documentary titled “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret.” The alleged incidents took place between 2002 and 2016, a period when Leto was in his 30s and 40s.

The women, identified in the documentary by pseudonyms such as “Isabel,” “Alex,” “Clara,” and “Etta,” were reportedly between 16 and 19 years old at the time of the alleged events. “Isabel” claims the actor sexually assaulted her in a motel bathroom when she was 17 in 2002. “Clara” alleges she had sexual relations with Leto when she was 17 in 2006, in California, where the age of consent is 18. She stated that Leto dismissed concerns about the age of consent at the time.

“Alex” claims that in 2013, when she was 19, Leto threatened her with sexual assault after she was left alone with him in a hotel room. “Etta” alleges that Leto groomed her a year later, when she was 16, through sexually explicit phone calls and suggestions of sexual activity. "Etta" also reported receiving a non-disclosure agreement related to their relationship, which she refused to sign.

The documentary also features accounts from two former staff members of Leto's band, Thirty Seconds to Mars. They reportedly expressed discomfort with Leto's interactions with teenage girls, sometimes inviting them to his dressing room or recording spaces. One former staffer stated that the age gap seemed significant.

Additionally, a woman named “Taylor” alleged that when she was 14, Leto made a sexual comment about her chest during an autograph signing and instructed a security guard to take her backstage. Her mother reportedly confronted Leto, who repeated the remark.

The BBC stated that it corroborated several of the women's accounts using contemporaneous information from friends and family, as well as photographic and message evidence. These allegations add to previous claims made against Leto. In 2025, nine women accused the actor of sexual impropriety in an article published by Air Mail, which Leto denied.

Leto, 54, has had a prominent career in both acting and music. He won an Academy Award for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club” in 2014 and has starred in films such as “Suicide Squad” and “Masters of the Universe.” He formed the band Thirty Seconds to Mars in 1998, which has sold over 15 million albums globally.
