Actor James Buckley, known for his role in "The Inbetweeners," has returned to filming a new Netflix drama, "The Woods," in Cheshire, England. The appearance marks his first public outing since disclosing a genetic diagnosis that places him at a high risk for cardiovascular incidents.

Buckley, 38, revealed earlier this week that he has been diagnosed with a high level of Lipoprotein(a), a genetically inherited form of blood cholesterol that can accelerate plaque buildup in arteries. He stated that this condition increases his risk of a cardiovascular event. The actor shared that the diagnosis came after he was hospitalized for severe dehydration, which prompted blood tests revealing the elevated Lipoprotein(a) levels. He described the condition as something that "promotes plaque buildup in arteries, increases inflammation and increases the risk of blood clotting." According to Buckley, it affects approximately one in five people globally and often presents no symptoms until a significant health event occurs.

Despite the health news, Buckley was seen in high spirits on set, filming scenes for the Harlan Coben series. He is portraying the character Lonnie Berger and was joined by co-stars Michelle Keegan, who plays Lucy Silverfield, and Tom Bateman, cast as barrister Paul 'Cope' Copeland.

Buckley had previously stated he was giving up drinking and overhauling his diet in response to his diagnosis. However, his wife, Clair Buckley, recently commented on his lifestyle, noting that he still drinks and visits pubs. She mentioned on "The Chris Moyles Show" on Radio X that while he had abstained for a period, he has resumed going to the pub. Clair also shared that her own mother's experience with a similar genetic condition prompted James to get tested.

Reports have also surfaced recently suggesting a potential third "Inbetweeners" movie is in development for Netflix, with the four main cast members – Buckley, Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, and Blake Harrison – reportedly signed on.
