Jameela Jamil has been forced to cancel an upcoming live recording of her podcast, "Wrong Turns," due to ongoing illness. The actress and activist, 40, was scheduled to appear on stage Friday, September 11, for the sold-out event at Kings Place as part of the London Podcast Festival.
In an Instagram post, Jamil informed her fans that she has been "really sick" and is unable to proceed with the show. "I’m so sorry to do this, but as you may have seen from various hospital pics over the past few weeks, I’ve been really sick with a fluke bad luck thing," she wrote. "I am not going to be able to do the WRONG TURNS live show (which you sold out because you're the f**king best) next Friday."
Jamil expressed her regret for the cancellation and announced she will be taking time off to recover. "We will come back bigger and stronger soon hopefully. I love being with you in person. I just have to look after myself," she stated, adding, "Gonna go away for a bit and recover."
She noted that this marks the first time she has canceled a work commitment in her 18-year career. Jamil also extended her gratitude to nurses who helped her during this period, writing, "Thankful for nurses James, Barold and Winnie for keeping me above water." She assured followers that she would continue to post on Substack and occasionally from her bed.
The cancellation follows Jamil's recent disclosure about experiencing an anaphylactic reaction. She described feeling exhausted, with a fluttering heart and feeling sick, noting that she had fallen asleep multiple times that day. "What is this? I'm sure it's normal but I haven't experienced anything like it. It feels cardiovascular. Anyone else had this?" she had previously asked.
The London Podcast Festival shared a message wishing Jamil a speedy recovery, which she reshared on her Instagram stories, calling herself "gutted" to have had to cancel.
