Jameela Jamil has canceled a scheduled live recording of her podcast "Wrong Turns" due to an ongoing illness, the actress and activist announced Friday. The event was slated for Friday, September 11, at Kings Place as part of the London Podcast Festival.
In a message shared on Instagram, Jamil informed her followers that she has been "really sick" and will be unable to perform. "I am not going to be able to do the WRONG TURNS live show (which you sold out because you're the f**king best) next Friday," she wrote, apologizing for the cancellation. "I can't think of a bigger wrong turn than this."
Jamil stated she will be taking time off to recover. "We will come back bigger and stronger soon hopefully. I love being with you in person. I just have to look after myself," she added. She concluded her message with "I am VERY VERY sorry. Gonna go away for a bit and recover. Love you. Listen yo your bodies."
She noted in her caption that this marks the first time she has canceled a work commitment in her 18-year career. Jamil also expressed gratitude to nurses for their support during her illness.
Jamil did not specify the exact nature of her illness but recently shared on social media that she had experienced an anaphylactic reaction and was feeling exhausted with a fluttering heart.
"OK so the day after anaphylaxis and the treatment for it, I am so exhausted," she wrote in a previous post. "My heart is fluttering and I feel sick. I have fallen asleep about 8 times today. What is this? I'm sure it's normal but I haven't experienced anything like it. It feels cardiovascular. Anyone else had this?"
Jamil assured fans that she would continue to post on Substack and occasionally from her bed. The London Podcast Festival reshared a post wishing her a speedy recovery, to which Jamil responded that she was "gutted" to have had to cancel.
She plans to reschedule the "Wrong Turns" live show once she has recovered. Her followers sent numerous supportive messages wishing her well.
