Jackson Warne, the 27-year-old son of late cricket icon Shane Warne, is embarking on a new career path as a television reporter for Sky Sports in the United Kingdom.
Warne is spending a month in England covering The Hundred cricket competition, where he is working as a roving reporter and interviewer on the sidelines, engaging with prominent cricket stars. This role represents an unexpected career shift for Warne, who has acknowledged the learning curve involved but expressed enjoyment in the experience. "So far so good, learning and improving with each interview but still have lots of work to do," Warne stated in a recent clip. "It's something different for me... I'm really enjoying it."
Despite describing the position as an unexpected pivot, Warne has reportedly been well-received by colleagues, players, and viewers due to his approachable interviewing style. His on-air approach includes discussing the sport's technical aspects as well as broader themes such as personal aspirations and life beyond the field.
This new endeavor holds particular significance for the Warne family. In June 2022, Sky Sports honored Shane Warne by renaming its main commentary box at Lord's Cricket Ground the Shane Warne Commentary Box, a few months after the Australian cricketer's death.
Beyond his television work, Jackson Warne is also preparing to relaunch his podcast, "Warnes Way," in September. He initially launched the series last year as a platform for personal development and to connect with individuals who played key roles in his father's life. The podcast has featured notable guests such as Ed Sheeran, Andy Lee, Eddie McGuire, Merv Hughes, and Jackson's mother, Simone Callahan.
Prior to this broadcasting opportunity, Warne also spent several months competing in poker tournaments internationally. The television role comes during a notable period for the family, as Jackson's older sister, Brooke, recently announced her engagement to long-term partner Alex Heath during a trip to the United States. The couple reportedly plans a destination wedding in Greece.
