J. Cole canceled his scheduled concert in Sacramento on Thursday night after a member of his touring crew died in a fiery crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 5 in Yolo County. The crash occurred shortly after 6:05 a.m. on the southbound lanes of I-5 between the Zamora and Dufour areas, northwest of Woodland.
The overturned truck was hauling equipment for the rapper's performance at the Golden 1 Center. The collision blocked all lanes of the freeway south of County Road 95 for a period.
The Golden 1 Center confirmed that the individual killed in the incident was part of J. Cole's touring crew. "Our thoughts are with the crew member's family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time," a statement from the venue read.
Refunds for the canceled concert are being processed. Ticketmaster buyers will receive automatic refunds, while those who purchased tickets through other vendors are advised to seek refunds from their original point of purchase. J. Cole has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including two Grammy wins.
