Isha Ambani, daughter of India's richest man Mukesh Ambani, captured significant attention at Paris Fashion Week, not only for her custom Rahul Mishra gown but also for a rare Hermès Sac Bijou Birkin handbag valued at an estimated $2 million. The 34-year-old heiress was a front-row guest at the designer's runway show on Monday, seated alongside rapper Cardi B.
Ambani's ensemble featured a custom metallic gray strapless gown with intricate beading. However, the handbag she carried, reportedly crafted from 18-karat white gold and adorned with 2,712 gemstones, became a focal point. According to reports, the Sac Bijou Birkin is one of only three ever made and was originally conceived by Hermès Creative Director of Fine Jewelry Pierre Hardy as part of the Hermès Haute Bijouterie Collection released in 2012. Sotheby's has previously described such pieces as intended to 'blur the line between handbag and high jewelry.'
Ambani accessorized her look with custom Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, including 40-karat white diamond earrings and a matching necklace. She reportedly borrowed the handbag from her mother, Nita Ambani.
Isha Ambani, who holds degrees from Yale and Stanford universities, is an active participant in her father's company, Reliance Industries. She has previously been a notable figure in the fashion world, attending events like the Met Gala and appearing in Vogue Australia. Her extravagant 2018 wedding to real estate mogul Anand Piramal, which reportedly cost $100 million and featured a private concert by Beyoncé, also garnered significant media attention. She and her husband welcomed twins in 2022.
