The latest film in the Insidious franchise, "Insidious: Out of the Further," is now available in U.S. movie theaters nationwide as of Friday, August 21. This marks the sixth movie in the horror series and serves as a sequel to 2023's "Insidious: The Red Door."
Directed by Jacob Chase, who also co-wrote the story with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, the film stars Amelia Eve as Gemma, a mother who discovers her ability to travel to the "Further" and summon spirits. The franchise, which began in 2010 with the film "Insidious" from director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell, continues with Wan and Whannell serving as producers on "Out of the Further."
The cast also includes Brandon Perea and Maisie Richardson-Sellers, with Lin Shaye reprising her role from previous installments.
"Insidious: Out of the Further" is currently not available on streaming platforms such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, as it is exclusively a theatrical release. Viewers can find showtimes through services like Fandango.
While a direct streaming release is not immediate, the film is expected to eventually be available for purchase or rental on digital platforms. As "Insidious: Out of the Further" is a Sony Pictures film, it is anticipated to arrive on Netflix in what is known as the "Pay 1" window, which is the first streaming window after its home media release.
Based on the release patterns of recent Sony films, such as "GOAT," which began streaming on Netflix three months after its theatrical debut, "Insidious: Out of the Further" could potentially be available on Netflix around late November or early December 2026. This timeline aligns with previous Sony-Netflix deals granting the streamer first access to films post-home media release.
