Influencer Ruby Tuesday Matthews has shared graphic details and imagery of her recovery following an endoscopic lift plastic surgery procedure. The 33-year-old mother of three posted a series of images and videos on Instagram documenting the extensive bruising and swelling she experienced after the four-hour operation aimed at refreshing her appearance.
Matthews explained that the endoscopic lift was designed to tighten sagging skin on her forehead, brow, and midface, with the goal of looking more refreshed and awake without altering her features. She noted that initially, she considered eyelid surgery but opted against it after her surgeon indicated the lift alone could achieve her desired outcome. "The goal was never to change the way I look. I wanted to keep my face and my features, just look a little more refreshed and awake, while addressing some of the volume loss through my face," she stated.
Following the procedure, Matthews shared that her face was heavily bandaged. Upon removing the bandages, she revealed significant swelling and deep purple bruising. The swelling was so pronounced that her iPhone's facial recognition system was unable to recognize her, requiring her to visit an Apple Store to reset her phone. "I literally had to go to the Apple Store in my pyjamas looking like this and reboot my whole phone because there was no way it was recognising my face," she recounted.
Responding to fan questions about why she underwent the procedure given her existing appearance, Matthews emphasized transparency with her followers. "I obviously didn't have to share any of this. I could have disappeared for a few weeks and pretended nothing was ever done, but transparency with my community is important to me," she wrote. She reiterated that her intention was not to change her face but to achieve a more refreshed look, using a photo of herself from five years prior as a reference. Matthews clarified that the current appearance was due to swelling and not a permanent change. "What you're seeing now is swelling, not a new face, and I won't be ashamed for being honest about something I could very easily have hidden."
This is not the first time Matthews has openly discussed cosmetic procedures. She previously revealed undergoing breast augmentation surgery in 2023, noting she had previous implants and two breast lifts. She expressed apprehension about breast implant illness and shared that she had observed some unusual symptoms, which she was monitoring to determine if they were related to her implants. Matthews also shared that a third pregnancy had affected the results of a previous breast lift, necessitating revision surgery. She advised followers to consider delaying breast surgeries until after having children, stating that the reversal of a previous lift due to pregnancy made it "a complete waste of money and time."
