Daisy Keech, a lifestyle influencer with a large social media following, faced a wave of criticism after posting a string of Instagram stories mourning the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

On Sept. 14, 2025, Keech — who has about 5 million Instagram followers and roughly 7 million followers on TikTok — shared posts saying she was "at such a loss for words" over Kirk's death and thanking him "for everything he's done for the youth of our country." She also reposted a text image condemning a recent South Carolina school shooting and the stabbing death of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, calling the recent murders "an act of the devil" and urging followers that "by not using your voice you are a part of the problem." Keech wrote that she normally keeps her political opinions private but felt compelled to speak out because of the "evil." She added, "If you are rejoicing in the death of a father and husband, I pray for your soul," and told followers who disagreed with her to unfollow.

Keech also reposted a video titled "Something feels so different about the death of Charlie Kirk," which described the loss as if "they lost a friend" and called Kirk a "true servant of god." Keech added the caption "1000% to this." Her posts drew hundreds of replies, with many users expressing anger and accusing her of selective engagement on political and violent events.

One Instagram comment said, "I loved her content but I just really lost respect for her." Posts on TikTok and Reddit criticized Keech for what some described as inconsistent responses to violence, with one Reddit user writing, "I don't remember her posting about the Democrat politician killed by the Republican. Strange, isn't it?" Other commenters defended Keech. One follower wrote, "I'm proud of you for honoring Charlie. All the hate on your post just tells you they don't know this man and only watch[ed] altered clips." Several supporters urged her to ignore the criticism.

Keech rose to prominence as a co-founder of the content-creator collective Hype House in 2019 and has since shifted to wellness and lifestyle content, including a popular home renovation series. Her posts have blended personal reflections with commentary on current events in recent months, drawing attention from both fans and critics.

The reaction to her posts highlights the fraught dynamics influencers face when addressing politics and polarizing figures on large platforms. Social media users and commentators routinely scrutinize public figures' responses to high-profile deaths and acts of violence, and accusations of selective outrage have become a common line of criticism.

The Daily Mail reported on the backlash and said it had reached out to Keech for comment. Keech's posts remained visible on her Instagram account as of the publication reporting, and responses from followers continued to appear across multiple platforms.
