Fans have caught glimpses of filming for a new Inbetweeners movie, with stars Joe Thomas and Simon Bird recently seen shooting scenes in Magaluf. The location holds significance as it's the same beach where the cast filmed 15 years prior for the original movie.
Thomas, who plays Simon Cooper, and Bird, who portrays Will McKenzie, were observed in dry robes between takes. The actors were later seen in the water, attached to a pole for filming. This beach filming comes after previous scenes depicted Thomas's character fleeing a house in his underwear and Bird's character being pursued by an angry boyfriend.
The cast has also been spotted filming a wedding scene, with all four main actors—Thomas, Bird, James Buckley (Jay Cartwright), and Blake Harrison (Neil Sutherland)—seen in suits outside a church.
Speculation about the movie's return began in September. However, reports later surfaced that Emily Atack, who played Charlotte 'Big Jugs' Hinchcliffe, would not be returning due to an alleged past feud with James Buckley. The creators, Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, addressed Atack's absence, stating that they "couldn't squeeze every beloved character into the film" and that it was their decision not to include all characters due to script plausibility rather than any headline-worthy reason.
The Inbetweeners originally aired on Channel 4 from 2008 to 2010, followed by two films in 2011 and 2014, and a reunion in 2019. The release date for the new movie has not yet been announced.
