Rapper and actor Ice-T, legal name Tracy Marrow, has shared his formula for a lasting marriage to Coco Austin, highlighting the importance of consistent communication and dedicated date nights. The couple has been married since 2002 and have a 10-year-old daughter, Chanel Nicole Marrow.
"I think in a relationship, I think you just have to do what got you guys started. You know, when you first started dating, you can't get rid of date night," Ice-T told Fox News Digital. He emphasized that even amidst life's inevitable stresses, couples should strive to return to the foundational elements of their relationship.
Ice-T also stressed the significance of proactive problem-solving. "Never let a problem fester. If there's a problem, let's get it out. Let's talk about it quick. Don't let it sit," he advised. He believes that letting issues linger or harboring unspoken grievances can be detrimental to a long-term partnership.
His comments came as he promotes the new FOX celebrity competition series "Nation's Dumbest," where he co-stars with Jon Heder. Heder, who has also been married for a significant period, echoed some of Ice-T's sentiments and added that "expanding" in a relationship is also a key component.
"Nation's Dumbest" challenges 12 celebrities to compete in various school-themed trivia and physical games. Hosted by Jack Whitehall, the series twists the typical competition format, aiming for elimination rather than victory, with the last contestant standing earning the unwanted title of "The Nation's Dumbest."
The show's cast also includes Hilaria Baldwin, Carmen Electra, Anthony Michael Hall, Chase Hudson, Elle King, Matt Leinart, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Steve-O, JoJo Siwa, and Andrew Yang. The series premiered on FOX on Wednesday, July 15, at 9 p.m. ET/PT and streams the following day on Hulu.
