Andrew Cabot, husband of former Astronomer HR executive Kristin Cabot, has said he and his wife were “privately and amicably separated several weeks before the Coldplay concert” that produced a viral kiss-cam moment featuring Kristin and ex-Astronomer CEO Andy Byron.
A spokesperson for Andrew, who is chief executive of Privateer Rum, provided the statement to People on Monday and said the pair’s decision to divorce was already under way prior to the July concert. Kristin Cabot filed for divorce Aug. 13 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, according to court documents obtained by the Daily Mail.
The spokesperson said Andrew hopes the public disclosure of the divorce filing “provides respectful closure to speculation and allows his family the privacy they’ve always valued.” Property records cited by Page Six show the couple have shared a Rye, New Hampshire, address since at least 2023. A Facebook photo believed to have been taken in May 2024 showed Kristin Cabot wearing a large wedding ring while standing with Andrew and two children.
The Jumbotron incident occurred in July at a Coldplay concert in Boston, where video of Kristin Cabot and Andy Byron locked in an embrace drew widespread attention online. The pair’s visible discomfort after they were shown on the large screen — Byron ducking down and Kristin covering her face — prompted jokes from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and intense media scrutiny. Both Byron and Kristin subsequently resigned from their posts at Astronomer.
Andrew’s second ex-wife, Julia Cabot, told Page Six she had texted him after the kiss-cam clip circulated and that he told her he and Kristin were separating. Julia, who said she was married to Andrew for four years until 2018, described him to the outlet in critical terms and said others reacted to the viral moment by invoking the word “karma.” Those comments are her characterization and were provided to the publication.
Reports at the time indicated additional personal fallout from the incident. Media accounts said Byron was married to Megan Kerrigan Byron, and Page Six and the Daily Mail reported that Megan left a home in Northborough, Massachusetts, and had been staying at a Maine property amid discussions about her marriage.
Byron resigned from Astronomer shortly after the video circulated, and Kristin Cabot also left her HR post at the company. Astronomer did not immediately comment publicly on the divorce filing or Andrew Cabot’s statement.
The exchange adds a new timeline to public accounts of the episode, which prompted considerable online reaction and led to abrupt career changes for the two executives involved. The spokespeople’s remarks, property records and court filings cited by media outlets form the basis of the reporting; the parties have provided limited public comment beyond those statements.
