Brittany Begley, 44, has been dismissed from her position at Houston's KPRC-TV following a public social media diatribe directed at the station's management and colleagues. Begley confirmed her departure in an Instagram post, stating she was "no longer" with the station and expressed gratitude for the decision, acknowledging that the company's action was not unexpected.
In a lengthy Instagram post that gained significant traction, Begley voiced frustration over never having received an Emmy Award, attributing it to the perception that traffic reporting is not considered worthy of the honor in the markets where she worked. She also criticized the work-life balance at KPRC, describing instances of colleagues exhibiting what she termed "bad behavior" in the workplace, such as consistent tardiness and unprofessional conduct before airtime.
Begley stated that she aimed to operate with integrity and had emails that demonstrated her efforts to create a positive impact at KPRC. She expressed a desire for a greater role in television where she could advocate for individuals who have ascended through the ranks.
Following the virality of her post, Begley clarified that her intention was not to insult colleagues but to raise awareness about mental health issues. Prior to her tenure at KPRC, Begley worked for television stations in California, South Carolina, and Ohio.
