The latest episode of HBO's "House of the Dragon" Season 3, Episode 2, focused on the burgeoning connections within House Velaryon amidst the ongoing civil war, the Dance of the Dragons. The episode saw Baela Targaryen, portrayed by Bethany Antonia, and Alyn of Hull, played by Abubakar Salim, bond while searching for their patriarch, Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint), who went missing during the Battle of the Gullet. They were joined by Alyn's brother, Addam of Hull (Clinton Liberty).

The search culminated with Addam spotting his father with the aid of Seasmoke, reuniting the fractured Velaryon family on the shores of the Gullet. This moment signifies a potential new beginning for the Velaryons, particularly as Corlys faces the task of rebuilding after the sacking of High Tide. For Baela, the loss of her engagement to Jace (Harry Collett) also reshapes her standing within Rhaenyra's camp, potentially opening them to accepting Alyn and Addam as family.

Antonia and Salim acknowledged that the scene hinted at a deeper future for their characters, referencing George R.R. Martin's "Fire & Blood," where Baela eventually marries Alyn. "It was funny, we were both kind of giggling like little kids knowing, like, what’s happening," Salim told Decider. "We’re also giggling at the fact that, you know — I mean spoilers — that Jace wasn’t even cold, but that’s the reality of it."

Antonia described the beach scene as "wonderful to film" because the actors felt an instinctive understanding of their characters' connection. "We both just knew instinctively and, yeah, it was wonderful. I’m really excited for people to see that and to see what they make of it," she said.

The scene also highlighted the characters' shared trauma and emotional states. Salim noted that Baela found Alyn in a "raw state" as he searched for his father, prompting a necessary emotional exchange. Antonia added that both Baela and Alyn recognize each other's burden of responsibility as eldest siblings, especially given their shared experience of losing their mothers and navigating younger siblings who act independently. She also pointed out the dynamic between Addam and Rhaena, suggesting the four characters share a unique understanding of each other.

The episode is available for streaming on HBO Max. "House of the Dragon" airs Sundays at 9 PM ET on HBO and HBO Max.
