Sarah Roberts said she has moved on following her public separation from husband James Stewart, revealing details of a “secret” romance while attending the Australian Women’s Film Festival and in recent interviews.
The 40-year-old actress arrived at the event in a vibrant yellow midi dress and beamed on the red carpet, posing for photographs and snapping pictures with former Home and Away co-star Sam Frost. Roberts later confirmed on the Something To Talk About podcast that she had “fallen in love” and described the relationship as one that had allowed her to grow in “beautiful and unexpected ways.”
Roberts has also shared details of the relationship on Instagram, responding to a fan question about a new partner with playful references to a James Bond-like romance. “Yes! He makes me feel like I’m in a Bond film every day,” she wrote, saying the man values his privacy and that their life together includes travel and quiet companionship. Roberts added that her partner makes her feel “emotionally safe with a calm nervous system” and hinted she had left fans a clue about his name.
On the podcast, Roberts spoke candidly about the toll of her separation being played out in public. “Dealing with it in the spotlight, and then everything that came out in the media after, absolutely ripped my heart into a million little pieces,” she said. She acknowledged the difficulty of being vulnerable in the public eye but said she had taken responsibility for her own feelings and worked toward personal healing. “I finally found a love for myself which I didn’t have,” she said, adding she had spent too long in a relationship she now considers unhealthy.
Roberts and Stewart married in 2019 after getting engaged in November 2018; Stewart proposed at the restaurant where they had had their first date. The couple announced their separation in March 2024. Roberts starred on the long-running soap Home and Away from 2017 to 2021 before stepping away to focus on her film career. Stewart has since been linked with his former Home and Away co-star Ada Nicodemou.
At the festival appearance Roberts wore strappy translucent heels and gold bracelets, left her hair down and completed her look with a soft rose lip. She smiled frequently during the red carpet engagement and appeared at ease speaking with photographers and fellow industry figures.
