Lesley Vogel, mother of the late actress Hayden Panettiere, has spoken about her daughter's legacy following Panettiere's death at age 36. Vogel expressed her hope that Hayden will be remembered for her multifaceted talents and personality.

"I want Hayden to be remembered for the talented, you know, beautiful, outgoing, intelligent woman she really was," Vogel told ABC News.

Panettiere, widely recognized for her roles in television series such as "Heroes" and "Nashville," as well as the film "Ice Princess," died on Aug. 16. She was found unresponsive and in cardiac arrest at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina. First responders attempted resuscitation, but she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation into Panettiere's death is being led by the Greenville City Police Department, with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration, according to sources familiar with the matter. A police report obtained by ABC News indicated that Panettiere was with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, and his brother, Zach Hickerson, at the time of her passing. The report did not specify whether Panettiere had been using drugs or alcohol.

The official cause and manner of Panettiere's death are pending further investigation and the completion of additional studies, the coroner's office has stated.

This period follows Panettiere's public discussions earlier this year about her complex relationship with her mother, who also served as her childhood acting coach. In a May interview with ABC News, Panettiere described attempts to maintain a relationship with Vogel as "tough." At that time, Panettiere stated, "Over the years, I've tried to leave that door open, hoping that the relationship would evolve into a healthy mother-daughter relationship, and it's obvious that that's just not going to be the case."

Vogel previously responded to her daughter's comments in a statement to Page Six, explaining her decision to adopt a "no-contact route" after taking "the advice of professionals."
