Wladimir Klitschko, the former heavyweight boxing champion and ex-partner of actress Hayden Panettiere, has stated that his family is in a state of "profound shock and grief" following her death. Panettiere, known for her roles in "Heroes" and "Nashville," died on Sunday. She and Klitschko share a daughter, Kaya Evdokia Klitschko.
Since news of Panettiere's passing broke, tributes have been shared by her former colleagues and friends. Connie Britton, who starred alongside Panettiere in the musical drama "Nashville," posted images of them together on Instagram, writing, "This was Hayden. Bursting with brilliance, shining so bright." She added, "I have no words for this sad song. Just heartbreak. I love you girl. Sleep easy now."
Masi Oka, who worked with Panettiere on the supernatural drama series "Heroes," described himself as "absolutely heartbroken." He shared on X, "I had the privilege of working closely with her, and I'll always remember her for her beautiful spirit, immense talent, and the joyful energy she brought to everything she did and the people around her." Oka noted, "She was way wiser beyond her years and now gone too soon... My heart goes out to her family and everyone who loved her. Rest in peace, Hayden."
Panettiere began her acting career as a child star, appearing in films such as "Remember the Titans" and "Raising Helen" before her prominent television roles. Beth Chamberlin, who played her mother in the soap opera "Guiding Light," recalled Panettiere as "the most brilliant child actor I've ever seen." Chamberlin stated on social media that Panettiere could remember extensive dialogue and blocking, even when scenes were significantly cut close to filming. "I felt blessed to work with her. And always perfect in her playing of the scene," Chamberlin added.
Her most recent film appearance was in "Sleepwalker," released earlier this year. Co-star Justin Chatwin told People magazine in an interview that Panettiere appeared to be "struggling" on the set of the thriller in early 2025. Chatwin, who has been sober for 15 years, commented on the toll that addiction and the pressures of Hollywood can take on young individuals. He observed that Panettiere seemed different and "lonely," suggesting her difficulties were not solely related to the film project. "I really loved working with her, but I also know that she was really lonely," Chatwin said.
